The journey continues and Teresa's dream team of doctor's remain close to her on a daily basis. We have learned that Teresa has Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. This means the cancer started in a milk duct and has broken through the wall of the duct; invading nearby tissue. Her cancer tested positive for estrogen receptive. This type of cancer relys on hormones to grow. For this reason, it has been recommended that she remove her Mirena IUD, which releases small amounts of hormones into the body.
Teresa's Dr will be removing her IUD tomorrow morning. It's important to know that she had the IUD inserted for menstrual control. Women who are going through perimenopause as Teresa was, experience heavier menstrual cycles and the Mirena IUD has been successful in reducing the amount of bleeding that occurs during this time in a woman's life.
Please keep Teresa in your prayers.
