If you think about it, we're all coaches in life; whether you're a mom, dad, professional, husband, wife, child, sister or brother. You're somebody and you have knowledge you've picked up along the way through a teacher, training or self education that you inevitably share with others.
I self educated myself on fitness, health and eating clean. I fell in love with fitness when I was in high school. Although you may not have realized that by looking at me, I was fascinated with it. I started taking aerobic classes at a local gym. This was a time when we wore those ever so tight leotards that were waist high...Are you picturing Jane Fonda? That was me, minus the hot body! A sign of a girl gone wild in the 80's on leotards and tights. Ugh!!! I'm wondering how that even came into fashion? Hot pink tights with a striped pink and purple leotard. Imagine showing up at your gym in that today. Somebody would get that captured on their cell phone and next thing you know you're the "priceless" joke floating around the internet, YouTube, Saturday Night Live, David Letterman or Facebook. YIKES!!!!
Back to my high school aerobics class. I loved the class so much that I asked if I could teach it. I mean come on, I had been to the class 5 days a week, had it memorized. Doesn't that certify me as a "fitness instructor". I guess it did. They said YES! Uh oh, here comes the excuse we girls all use "I need to buy a new outfit". I couldn't possibly teach a class in my current leotard and tights, it wasn't hip enough for an instructor wear. I had to step it up and get a bright blue leotard with white tights and a pink pair of fuzzy leg warmers. I mean doesn't every girl in the hot state of Texas need to own a pair of leg warmers? Watch out class here I come!!!
Here we are 20 something years later and I still love fitness! I turned into a gym rat. I found relief in working out. My life was always better after working out. I solved not only my life challenges but everyone else's, during my workouts. Didn't you suddenly notice a change in your life? Musta been me working out on behalf of your problems ;-)
Everyone's body is slightly different, and so your workouts and diets should be slightly different. What I did to get in shape is not a blueprint for someone else necessarily. My goal is to inspire, motivate and educate people on adopting a healthier lifestyle and a positive attitude towards life.
Until next time....
